Imagine that your friend Sam was born on December 25. Now imagine that friends decide to throw a party in his honor.
They get a cake and pizza together; decorate the house with greens, tinsel, and lights; and plan a lot of games. They even decide to exchange gifts with each other.
The party is in full swing. Everybody is having a lot of fun, when suddenly there is a knock on the door. Someone answers it, and who do you think is standing there? Sam, in whose honor the party is being held.
"I would like to come in and attend my party," says Sam. "Sorry," comes the answer, "we don't have room for you. Come some other time and maybe we'll have room then." The door closes.
Countless people will have extravagant parties in their homes this Christmas season. They will pretend to be celebrating Christ's birthday, but there will be no room for Him. No matter how much He knocks at the door and asks for admittance, they will keep Him out.
Christ should be the center of our attention. Our celebrations should honor Him, and our best gifts should be given to Him.
How about you? Will there be room for Christ in your Christmas celebration?
"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock" (Revelation 3:20).
