Bible Studies for Today’s Pentecostal Woman

Women who desire to see the Holy Spirit purposefully move in their lives will want to read the Unlimited! studies. The series of four Bible studies serve as a wonderful Pentecostal resource for individual or group study, new believers or mature Christians.

Each study contains eight lessons; each lesson features multiple components such as an engaging introduction, Bible reading, application and insight, caricatures of biblical women, a Pentecostal perspective, reflective questions, prayer and journaling. Each lesson can be used in its entirety or broken into smaller segments, making it convenient for an evening or lunch-hour Bible study for working women.

Some women’s groups have used the monologues of biblical caricatures, complete with costumes, for dramatic use at group Bible studies, or as an illustrated sermon at a women’s event. While the variety of components appeals to all ages, young women in particular are attracted to the use of narrative story as found in the monologues of Bible women.

The Bible studies have also been used for adult Sunday School curriculum. Two women report using the first Bible study in a co-ed Sunday School class at their church, waiting till the last week to reveal that the material came from the Unlimited! series for Today’s Pentecostal Woman. Men were surprised, although not offended. One raised his hand and exclaimed, “That explains why all the biblical examples were women!”

While many Bible studies for women are available in the Christian market, few have the distinction of being uniquely Pentecostal. Contributors to the series include four Spirit-filled women including: Arlene Allen, national Women’s Ministries director for the Assemblies of God; Peggy Musgrove, speaker, author and previous national Women’s Ministries director; Dr. Lori O’Dea, Small Groups Pastor of The Oaks Fellowship; and Candy Tolbert, national Missionettes director for the Assemblies of God. Each is an accomplished writer and Pentecostal minister.
